afro flow yoga
a moving meditation
Afro Flow Yoga infuses electrifying dance movements of the African Diaspora with a meditative yoga sequence of gentle yet powerful stretches. Students begin with meditation and breathing, followed by a "moving meditation" accompanied by African drums. The drums represent the heartbeat, grounding participants to the earth and widening their circle of compassion. Afro Flow Yoga creates a community absent of fear and judgement by combining rhythmic movements and traditional yoga poses and creating a landscape for freedom and expression to flourish.
Leslie salmon jones
We are blessed to have Leslie Salmon Jones, creator of Afro Flow Yoga, guide us through her heart opening workshops and daily yoga practice. Leslie is a professional dancer, certified holistic personal trainer, wellness coach, and yoga instructor. She began studying ballet and Afro-Caribbean dance at age seven. It was through her intensive dance training at the esteemed Alvin Ailey American Dance Center that Leslie was first introduced to yoga. She is committed to the empowerment of all people and communities of diverse backgrounds to develop mastery over their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Jeff Jones' music ignites the dancer within us all. Jeff is a bassist, vocalist and percussionist and Jeff Jones Zone is his jazz, R&B, easy listening and serious dance ensemble. Jeff spent many years touring with bands throughout the US, Canada, Saudi Arabia, West Africa and the Caribbean. Jeff opened for legends Little Richard and Al Green and performed for the Inauguration of President Obama, providing bass and vocals which brought thousands of attendees to the dance floor. Jeff co-owns Afro Flow Yoga and plays percussion for these classes and workshops both locally and abroad.
We will have an exciting line up of musical talent. Stay tuned as we finalize the schedule of artists.
