TOURS AND ACTIVITIES AT OUR NATURAL PARADISE
Vista Ballena Hotel is in Uvita de Osa, Puntarenas, an ecological paradise with unspoiled beaches, mountainous rainforests, and abundant wildlife. The hotel is high on the mountain and offers a fantastic ocean view, perfect for bird, dolphin, and whale watching. You can enjoy this breathtaking view from your private balcony, the hotel bar, or the infinity pool.
From the hotel, you can see Marino Ballena National Park, Costa Rica’s only official Marine Reserve, and the famous natural geologic reef formation known as the ‘Whale’s Tail.’ The tail-shaped reef and sandbar formation extend several hundred meters into the ocean, and it is a popular destination for watching the annual Humpback whale migration.
If you’re looking for adventure, you can take a short trip to Caño Island, which boasts the largest coral reef in Central America. You can also visit Playa Tortuga, just a few miles south of the hotel, where you can watch turtles lay eggs at night under the watchful eyes and protection of local volunteers.

LOCAL TOURS
WHALE / DOLPHIN WATCHING TOUR
During the tour, you can observe humpback whales (depending on the season), spotted dolphins, bottle noses, turtles, and sea birds. Depending on weather you can also go snorkeling in the whale's tail or on Whale Island, where you can see different types of reef fish.
HORSEBACK RIDING
Horses are trained with great care to provide a delightful experience as you ride through the forest, on the beach, or in the river. You can visit Playa Hermosa, adjacent to the Marino Ballena National Park, and ride in the woods or towards the waterfall, where you can dip. Alternatively, you can enjoy the breathtaking sunset while on horseback.
KAYAKING
