Vista Ballena Hotel is situated in Uvita de Osa, Puntarenas – an ecological paradise boasting unspoiled beaches, mountainous rainforests, and abundant wildlife. The hotel is located high on the mountain and offers a fantastic ocean view, perfect for bird, dolphin, and whale watching. You can enjoy this breathtaking view from your private balcony, the hotel bar, or the infinity pool.
From the hotel, you can see Marino Ballena National Park, Costa Rica’s only official Marine Reserve, and the famous natural geologic reef formation known as the ‘Whale’s Tail.’ The tail-shaped reef and sandbar formation extend several hundred meters into the ocean, and it is a popular destination for watching the annual Humpback whale migration.
If you’re looking for adventure, you can take a short trip to Caño Island, which boasts the largest coral reef in Central America. You can also visit Playa Tortuga, just a few miles south of the hotel, where you can watch turtles lay eggs at night under the watchful eyes and protection of local volunteers.
Staying at Vista Ballena Hotel is a memorable experience, thanks to its ideal location and stunning views of the surrounding nature.
The nearby Corcovado National Park, called the ‘crown jewel’ of Costa Rica’s National Park System, is an enormous pristine ecosystem covering 103,290 acres of tropical rainforest. As one of the most complex ecosystems in the world boasting no less than 5% of the entire planet’s species, the biodiversity of Corcovado has been officially logged (so far) as being home to over 500 species of trees, 6,000 species of insects, 140 species of mammals, around 400 species of birds, 116 species of amphibians and reptiles, and 40 species of fish. We can arrange your trip south to see these natural wonders for yourself, and you can spend the day hiking one of the wildest and most unspoiled regions on Earth. Mañuel Antonio National Park, the most visited park in the nation, is also just an hour north of here. It is one of the most amazing day trips you will ever experience.
Our knowledgeable staff will help you book your favorite activities, whether they are whale and dolphin watching, surfing, waterfall bathing, horseback riding, tours of Caño Island, bird watching, snorkeling, diving, fishing, and hiking in the rainforest. You will be mesmerized by the enchanting natural abundance of our beautiful country.
